A show, the studio, and futures
Heads up! We're playing a show February 2 with The Whomping Willows, Justin Finch-Fletchley, and Lauren Fairweater! More info on the "Performances" page. Also, Steph has wrapped up writing her muggle (non-wizard rock) album, and is putting in time in the studio this month. This album has been in the planning and writing stage for a long time, now so it's pretty exciting to be busting out the guitars and microphones once again. Today we finally worked the kinks out of Steph's official website, which can be found at StephAndersonMusic.com
If you haven't been watching Steph's collab channel LifeChangesEvrything you might not have heard yet: A brand new Tonks and the Aurors album is being planned for this summer, probably around LeakyCon! New wizard tunes from your favorite pink haired Auror. Songs haven't been written yet, but once the muggle album is out it'll be all systems go. Are there any topics you'd like to hear convered from Tonks' POV? Or something you'd like to hear more from T&tA?
NEW SONG for a Good Cause!
Exciting news! The BRAND NEW Tonks & the Aurors song "One Night" has arrived! I've been kicking around this song for months, and it wasn't until the last few weeks that I found use for it... In November, I found out about an amazing cause, which for a fairly attainable amount of money, amazing things could be achieved. While brainstorming with a friend, I realized that this is EXACTLY the kind of thing that the Harry Potter community is good at: Helping take care of REAL problems in the real world.
So here's what's up, the organization Step Up On Second in Santa Monica, CA put out a call for help, because due to budget cuts in state funding, one of their patients was facing losing his housing. This person, who has already been through so much, now finds himself caught in a bureaucratic loophole, which can be solved for $1,500. After hearing this, Alex Carpenter of the Remus Lupins and I went into action, recording and producing the song so that it could be used to help fundraise!
We hope that you can spare a minimum donation of $1.50 to receive the song, but you are welcome to donate more if you are able! So, let's work together to give someone the best holiday gift EVER: a home!
"One Night" will be available for a LIMITED time at http://tonksandtheaurors.bandcamp.com/track/one-night
Still not convinced? Here's some more information on the situation...
Step Up On Second (http://www.stepuponsecond.org/) is a full-service mental health facility located in Santa Monica, CA, that helps people with severe and persistent mental illnesses reintegrate with the community. Some of the services they provide are housing, meals, therapy, and life-skills coaching. The proceeds from this song will support a client in SUOS's program who was homeless for over 18 years. In the last year SUOS assisted him in getting his own apartment, as well as needed psychiatric and life-skills assistance. Because of their intervention, his improvement has been dramatic and he is no longer suffering from the many health and socialization issues typical to a homeless individual.
Unfortunately, due to budget cuts in the State of California, many of the funding sources available to this client are no longer available. Typically, SUOS is able to find other funding resources, but due to this client's unique situation (privacy issues prevent us from saying more) this client is caught in a bureaucratic loophole that SUOS has been unable to resolve. For only $1500 we can provide this person with a home and access to the other resources that have improved his life for a full year! By the end of that year, SUOS believes they will be able to find funding this person qualifies for or find him employment to cover his own costs thereafter.
Thanks in advance for your help, and HAPPY HOLIDAYS! -Steph Anderson Tonks & the Aurors
Limited Edition EP Released Today!
Limited Edition EP Released Today! Hey Everybody!
I posted a note about this a week ago on my personal Facebook, and the response was a resounding YES, so I have decided to release a limited edition EP of songs I wrote and recorded a few years before I started Tonks & the Aurors. Last week was the 5 year anniversary of releasing my first album, which I wrote and recorded right out of high school all by myself. I've been contemplating re-recording some of the songs, but before I revisit them, I want to give you all the opportunity to hear them as they were originally produced. The songs are imperfect, my voice is still a pretty new instrument to me, but the songs are quality, and I think they all capture a really intriguing moment in time.
This EP will only be available via www.tonksandtheaurors.com/shop and will never be on iTunes. All copies will be hand made by me, and limited edition. I do not plan on officially releasing these songs again after January 1, 2010...so do not miss out on this opportunity. I hope you enjoy the album, and get a kick out of hearing what I was doing 5 years ago.
Here's the official information I've released on the website.....
SPECIAL ONE MONTH ONLY TONKS & THE AURORS EXCLUSIVE!
“Parklawn Drive EP”
Parklawn Drive was an album written and recorded the summer after Steph graduated high school, released Thanksgiving Day 2004. To celebrate the 5 year anniversary of this release, we’re weeding out the rough tracks and repackaging it as a limited edition EP. Less than 30 copies exist of the original album, and this EP will not be put on iTunes, so your only chance to get a copy is through this site. You have ONE MONTH to order (Dec 1-Jan 1), orders placed before December 15 will ship in time for the holidays (international orders may delay). After December 15, there is no guarantee your order will ship in time.
The EP features 7 original tracks, the way Stephanie originally recorded them in her bedroom and bathroom. Tracklisting is: 1. Hold 2. State Street 3. Red Dress 4. Getting to Heaven 5. Lift 6. Don Johnson 7. Forever
We’re releasing this EP as is, because it’s a unique look at a specific time in Steph’s life, and allows for a peek at what kind of “muggle” music Steph produced before Tonks & the Aurors

"Fallen" Song Preview
I had a bunch of technical difficulties while trying to record this, so I had to piece together a couple takes. But, you get a pretty good bit of the song to preview. Enjoy!
